Sometimes life gets hard. Things happen fast and we try to keep up. People need us and despite running on fumes, you have to keep going. We don’t get to control life. We don’t get to control what happens to those we love. We don’t get to control what happens to us. But relying on our support systems can help. Finding time to carve out a moment to breathe can help. Asking for help when we need it can help. The saying “life’s tough, but so are you” comes up a lot in these moments and it can be empowering and comforting to remember that we’re more resilient and braver than we probably realize. But we also need to know that it’s ok to be tired, it’s ok to be overwhelmed, and it’s ok to need help. I’m learning that people are willing to help if we learn to ask for it. You don’t have to be ok and you don’t have to have it all together. Remember to make time to check in with yourself. Your feelings are valid.
